inter airport Europe 2019

The inter airport Europe trade fair, the industry-leading trade fair for airport equipment and technology, came to a close on 11th October in Munich having welcomed record numbers through its doors.

Our president Kay Bärenfänger spoke at the opening of the exhibiton about the future demands of the airport industry: sustainability, artificial intelligence and autonomous driving. He mentioned a battery storage system for various applications at the airport, which focusses particularly on runway lighting, and discussed autonomous driving at airports: “The opportunities this offers are high, but so are the challenges. The conditions at the airport are more demanding than in normal road traffic. After all, it is not only cars that can cross the road, but also aircraft. For this reason, vehicles must also be able to detect aircraft wings or engines hanging in the air”.

The German Airport Technology & Equipment Association (GATE) presented itself at inter airport Europe with a new exhibition concept. “The aim of the appearance was not just to awake the interest of potential members but also to enter into substantial dialogue with all the other trade fair visitors too", explains GATE President, Kay Bärenfänger.
