Airports are complex environments with infrastructures that require close monitoring and management. These tasks are carried out in the airport operations center (AOC or APOC), which is often equipped with products from Barco, a new member of GATE. “Airports function like small cities, with numerous stakeholders requiring seamless collaboration and oversight. Our solutions are designed to support this complexity,” says Mathieu Dobbeleir, VP of Product & Solutions at Barco Control Rooms.
The Belgian company develops visualization and collaboration solutions, offering a broad portfolio of products such as video walls and media management. Barco’s technology enables the monitoring of various systems and applications in a single pixel space, controlling all systems and sources with a single keyboard, and ensuring smooth collaboration between different APOC stakeholders. The company has been active in airports for more than 20 years, equipping baggage operation centers, ramp control centers, and meeting and training rooms, among others.
“Our business is based on three pillars: scalability, user experience, and cybersecurity. We aim to leverage these to enhance the efficiency of airport operations – and in critical infrastructures in general,” adds Mathieu.
“Barco's solutions are deployed at airports around the world, including Amsterdam Schiphol, London Heathrow, Chengdu Tianfu, and other airports in e.g. Spain, Belgium and the USA. EUROCONTROL, for example, relies on our solutions as well,” emphasizes Mathieu Dobbeleir.
By joining GATE, Barco aims to strengthen its network even more closely with the airport ecosystem and connect with end users worldwide. The global company has a presence in almost 30 countries, and also has manufacturing and R&D operations in 10 countries. “By joining GATE, we aim to deepen our engagement in the airport ecosystem and look forward to participating in working groups to both provide and gain new insights.
