GATE Goes East: General Assembly in Poland

In the heart of Poland, nestled in Wiechlice and Nowa Sól, Getriebebau NORD GmbH & Co. KG is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge drive technology. From the energy-efficient IE5+ motor to the innovative DuoDrive gear motor unit, NORD's facilities boast state-of-the-art production capabilities. But beyond the advanced machinery and precision engineering lies a dedicated team whose skills extend far beyond manufacturing.

Recently, GATE – The Airport Technology Network had the pleasure of experiencing this firsthand. As part of the two-day event leading up to the Annual General Assembly, GATE members were treated not only to an in-depth factory tour but also to an unforgettable cultural and social program.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality of our hosts, Nord Napędy sp. z o.o., was evident. In addition to exploring the impressive production lines, attendees were immersed in Polish culture. The program included language lessons to familiarize us with key phrases and a lively evening of bowling that brought everyone together. And, of course, no visit to Poland would be complete without sampling the local cuisine—our taste buds were delighted by an array of Polish delicacies, from hearty meals to decadent desserts.

Thanks to this perfect preparation, the Annual General Assembly unfolded without a hitch. Jens Reinhard presented the ambitious plans for 2025, highlighting key events such as GATE FUTURE, numerous trade fairs, and the much-anticipated GATE Airport Days.

In addition, the assembly featured a smooth election process. Kay Baerenfaenger was re-elected as President, continuing his strong leadership. Patricia Vasconcelos and Johannes Sittig retained their roles as Vice Presidents, while Christoph Oftring stepped in as Treasurer, succeeding Ernst-August Gohde, who is retiring. We also welcomed Christoph Ebertas Vice President of Sustainability, a new and crucial position on the Board.
