Compliance at GATE

GATE – German Airport Technology & Equipment e.V. brings together companies that are often direct competitors. To keep our network valuable, trusted, and legally sound for all members, we follow a clear set of compliance principles.

1. Competition Law

Our working groups, events, and matchmaking activities bring competitors together for a legitimate purpose: advancing airport technology. They must never be used to coordinate market behaviour. Members do not exchange competitively sensitive information – including prices, margins, customer or supplier details, capacities, bids, or market-allocation plans – in any GATE context. Discussions stay focused on technical standards, innovation, and industry-wide topics. GATE reserves the right to stop any discussion that raises competition-law concerns.

2. Neutrality and Independence

GATE acts as a neutral platform. The association does not favour individual members in commercial competition, takes no party-political positions, and represents the shared interests of its membership rather than those of any single company. All members benefit from networking, visibility, and matchmaking on equal terms.

3. Anti-Corruption, Gifts and Hospitality

GATE and its representatives reject bribery and corruption in any form. This applies in particular to interactions with airport operators, public authorities, and government representatives – including during exhibitions and delegation trips. Gifts and hospitality must remain modest, transparent, and appropriate to the occasion, and must never be intended to improperly influence a decision.

4. Export Controls and Sanctions

Members are responsible for complying with applicable export control and sanctions regulations when pursuing international business introduced or supported through GATE. GATE facilitates contacts and market access but does not assume responsibility for individual export or trade decisions.

5. Conflicts of Interest

Board members, working group leads, and others acting on behalf of GATE disclose any material conflict of interest before participating in relevant decisions, and abstain where a conflict cannot be managed transparently.

6. Conduct at Events

At GATE events, exhibitions, and delegation trips, we expect respectful, professional behaviour. Harassment, discrimination, and intimidation have no place in our community.

7. Data Protection

8. Raising Concerns

Members and partners who become aware of a potential breach of these principles are encouraged to contact the GATE office in confidence. We take all concerns seriously and treat them discreetly.
