New GATE Member PRO DV Focuses on Cyber Security at Airports

The 45-year-old software company "PRO DV" has established itself as a reliable partner in the IT industry since its founding, particularly in the areas of information security and business process optimization. With its expertise, the independent, medium-sized company supports clients across a wide range of sectors, including transportation and logistics, telecommunications, energy, finance & insurance, healthcare, as well as government and administration.

PRO DV is particularly at home in critical infrastructures that are indispensable for the smooth functioning of our society. "Safety and security expertise are essential components of our consulting services and solutions," explains Dr. Giovanni Prestifilippo, CEO of PRO DV.

In recent years, the company, which operates offices in Dortmund and Düsseldorf, has further expanded its expertise in cyber security and now aims to apply this knowledge more intensively at airports. Airports are among the most sensitive hubs in our infrastructure and, due to their complex IT systems and high dependence on digital processes, are particularly vulnerable to cyberattacks. "We see great potential here, as critical infrastructures often lack a proactive approach in the event of a cyberattack. We can assist in developing contingency plans or establishing backup systems to increase resilience against such threats," Prestifilippo comments.

Together with GATE, PRO DV plans to conduct a detailed investigation into the current cybersecurity measures at airports. The question of what happens if central systems, such as the baggage handling system, fail will be a particular focus. Such incidents could not only lead to massive delays and disruptions in air traffic but also cause significant economic damage. "Our company aims to establish a new working group to advance the topic of cybersecurity. The association includes numerous IT companies with whom we can exchange ideas and jointly develop innovative approaches," says Prestifilippo.

By pooling expertise and collaborating closely within the GATE Association, PRO DV hopes to make a significant contribution to enhancing IT security at airports. The continuously growing threat of cybercrime requires a consistent and forward-looking security strategy—especially in locations that are crucial for national and international connectivity.
