New Member Primion Brings Three Decades of Airport Security Expertise to GATE

The converged security and workforce management specialist Primion joins GATE – The Airport Technology Network with a clear ambition: to play a role in shaping the future of the airport industry.

GATE – The Airport Technology Network welcomes Primion as its newest member. For more than 30 years, Primion has been a trusted partner to critical infrastructures around the world – among them numerous international airports – with solutions spanning integrated security systems like access control, identity management, gate processes and workforce management.

For Primion, membership is much more than networking. The company sees it as an active contribution to the further development of the industry.

“We want to be part of GATE to strengthen the network sustainably through our expertise, integration capabilities and international project experience.”  — Primion, Stefanie Ott, Global Head of Marketing & Communication.

That strength, the company says, lies above all in integrating heterogeneous systems, a strong expertise in airport processes and the competence to generate added value out of the generated data – a significant factor for holistic, interoperable airport solutions.

An integrated platform for the airport environment

At the heart of Primion’s offering lies a scalable platform that unifies security, identities, processes and infrastructure within a single operational and security context. Rather than relying on isolated on-off solutions, it connects access control, credential and identity management, gate processes and workforce management – linked to video, alarm, building as well as IT and IAM systems.

Central to this approach is the principle of converged security: bringing together physical security, IT, OT and operational processes for better risk detection and faster response. Permissions and staffing are managed dynamically rather than statically, following a simple guiding principle.

“Who may do what, when and where – that is the question our context-based control answers in real time.”  — Primion, Francis Cepero, Group CEO.

Built for operational reality

The company emphasizes that it stands out for its approach, which is tailored to operational realities. Specifically, to the complex, 24/7 regulated environments where security requirements and live airport operations are closely interconnected. Insights gained from real-world implementations in large airport environments are directly incorporated into the architecture and ongoing development of the solutions.

An active partner within the network

Primion will be an active, shaping partner within GATE. In network and business development, the company plans to take part in international trade fairs, delegation trips and matchmaking formats. In marketing and visibility, it aims to share its expertise through technical articles, use cases, webinars and presentations, strengthening GATE’s positioning as a leading network for airport innovation along the way.

A particular highlight for the community: in 2027, Primion will open a Global Customer Innovation Hub in Frankfurt am Main. In a central location and modern setting, the hub will showcase solutions around converged security and workforce planning as well as dedicated applications for international and regional airports – and it will be open to the network as a venue for GATE events, workshops and joint development formats.

Sustainability as part of the culture

As a member of the Spanish Azkoyen Group, Primion is embedded in an environmental management framework built on certifiable standards, the reduction of resource consumption and a stronger circular economy, improving its ecological footprint across the entire value chain.

Primion offers its solutions across industries for organizations with 500 or more employees, both internationally and regionally making it a potential partner for fellow GATE members as well. A warm welcome to the network.
